Mr. Al-Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan 2011-2012, was a member of the International Court of Justice from 2000 until 31 December 2011, and its Vice-President 2006-2009; he is an international lawyer, statesman and diplomat. He was Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court and served on many international bodies, including the United Nations International Law Commission and the Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities. He has lectured extensively on international law. Mr. Al-Khasawneh received his university education at Queens' College, Cambridge in England, where he attained an undergraduate degree in history and law, and a master’s degree in international law. He held senior legal posts in the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as from 1980.
